FreePower for Countertop Wins Top Honor in the Kitchen and Bath Industry - Best in Show at KBIS 2024
The wireless charging pioneer took the coveted Best in Show after KBIS 2024 debut, as well as finalist nominations in three “Best of” KBIS categories and the People’s Pick Award in the DesignBites competition

Las Vegas, NV (February 29, 2024) – FreePower, the company setting the new standard for wireless charging, debuted its latest solution at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), FreePower for Countertop, which turns any surface into a wireless charger. At this year’s event, FreePower left with the industry’s top award: Best of KBIS Best in Show Award. It was also the crowd favorite in the highly contested DesignBites Award, winning People’s Pick. In total, they were named a finalist for three 2024 Best of KBIS Awards in the Style Statement: Kitchen, Game-Changing Innovation, and Best of Show categories.

KBIS, North America’s largest trade show dedicated to all aspects of kitchen and bath design, revealed the winners of Best of KBIS, the industry’s premier awards program sponsored by Luxe Interiors + Design. The awards ceremony, which celebrates function, design, innovation and sustainability at KBIS, took place on February 28, 2024. Sarah Shelton, Market Editor of Luxe Interiors + Design, hosted the awards ceremony.

“We are so thrilled about the success of our launch into the world of kitchen and bath. The recognition from key stakeholders in the industry through our award nominations and wins gives us full confidence that our technology is the solution that designers have been waiting for,“ said Jake Slatnick, CEO and founder of FreePower. “Our booth was absolutely packed the entire show and seeing such positive reactions to our product for the first time was unbelievable. Designers and builders are looking to elevate their upcoming projects with FreePower and we can’t wait to see it all come to life.”

From kitchens and bathrooms to hospitality spaces, this solution puts seamless, elegant, and functional power at people’s fingertips in high-use spaces. FreePower for Countertop is purpose-built to make it easy for designers, architects, builders, and showroom owners to add free placement wireless charging to their stone countertops.

FreePower worked closely with the design and fabricator community to think through every aspect of embedding its wireless charging technology into countertops, from the cut-out requirements for the stone to visual cues and customization. Fabricators will need to complete a certification process from FreePower, during which they will learn how to embed the technology into their projects.

How FreePower for Countertop Works

To maintain a smooth, sleek, and uninterrupted countertop design, FreePower is embedded into the stone itself. Aside from the glow of its proprietary halo, there is no indication of a wireless charger lying just beneath the surface: no ridges to cause a spill, no bumps to inhibit use of the counter, and no crevices to fill with grime. The halo indicates the charging zone, controlled by an app where users can customize the colors, from subtle white to multicolor "party mode.” It can be dimmed completely, then reactivated with a stealthy feature called “Wave to Wake” – simply wave a smartphone over the charging zone, and it lights up to guide the way.

FreePower for Countertop is future-proof. It is software upgradeable, ensuring that the investment made in this embedded technology can last for years as smartphones and other devices continue to evolve. Whenever a charging unit does need to be replaced, the mounting system was designed to open with a single screw for exceptional ease..
